Department of Veteran Affairs
At Onward Health, we are proud to support Australia’s veterans through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). Our Occupational Therapy services are designed to help you maintain independence, improve quality of life, and continue engaging in the activities that matter most to you.
We understand that many veterans live with complex physical, neurological, and cognitive conditions that can impact daily life. Our approach is practical, respectful, and focused on supporting you in your own home and community.
What We Do
If you hold a Veteran Gold Card, you may be eligible for fully funded occupational therapy services for all health conditions.
If you hold a Veteran White Card, you may be eligible for services relating to your accepted conditions.
With a referral from your GP or medical specialist, we can provide in-home assessment and intervention tailored to your needs. We work collaboratively with your treating team to ensure services are aligned with your health goals and DVA requirements.

How We Can Support You
Assistive Technology & Equipment Prescription
We prescribe and arrange equipment to enhance safety, comfort, and independence. This may include mobility aids, bathroom equipment, seating solutions, pressure care supports, and other assistive devices. We manage the clinical justification and liaise with DVA to streamline approval processes.
Falls Prevention & Safety Planning
We assess environmental risks and develop practical strategies to reduce falls and improve safety at home.
Carer Education & Support
We provide education and practical strategies to reduce carer burden, improve confidence, and support safe care delivery within the home.
Cognitive & Upper Limb Rehabilitation
We provide cognitive retraining and upper limb rehabilitation to support memory, attention, coordination, and functional use of the arms and hands following stroke, neurological conditions, or injury.
Home Safety & Modifications
We recommend and coordinate minor home modifications such as grab rails, ramps, step adjustments, and bathroom accessibility changes. Where appropriate, we provide detailed assessment and documentation to ensure modifications are safe, functional, and compliant with DVA guidelines.
Onward Health works closely with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to ensure:
Services are provided in accordance with DVA funding guidelines
Reports and documentation meet clinical standards
Equipment prescriptions are clearly justified
Communication with your GP and medical team is consistent
We aim to make the process straightforward so you can focus on your health and wellbeing.
